Probus takes a trip back to school with John Noble

The first meeting of Peterhead Probus took place in the Palace Hotel on Tuesday, September 24.

Friday, 27th September 2013, 10:46 am

Guest speaker was John Noble, retired headteacher of Fraserburgh Academy, who gave members an informative presentation on his educational background and years at Fraserburgh Academy.

Being born in Fraserburgh, spending some time in the Borders, finishing education in Peterhead Academy and Aberdeen University, John became a teacher of mathematics/religious studies in the 1970s at Peterhead Academy, moving to Banchory and Cults academies before returning to Fraserburgh.

However, everyone has been through school and has an opinion, good or bad, about that experience and John outlined the many pressures which are placed upon school staff on a daily basis. Members recalled many of their own experiences of school days and were very grateful to John for taking time and effort in his presentation. Probus meets again on Tuesday, October 8 at 10am in the Palace Hotel with the guest speaker, Robert Esson, with a talk entitled, ‘Mission Aviation Fellowship’.
