Buchanhaven Heritage Society will host a Soup and Sweet event on Saturday, September 24, from 12 noon to 4pm to support the ongoing refurbishment of the Centre.
Following a successful heritage event on September 10, the group decided to host a one-off soup and sweet event to help raise funds for the “auld schoolie” refurbishment work.
Work has started in the old kitchen to convert it into a utility room and thereafter focus will be on the toilet upgrade before the main hall in 2017.
In addition to a choice of delicious soups and a range of desserts provided by Morrisons supermarket, there will be another display of unseen photographs for visitors to enjoy and the group hope for a large turnout on the day.
Society vice-chair, Elizabeth Milne, said: “The work we do is all carried out by a team of volunteers with all funds being reinvested directly to upgrading the auld schoolie built in 1850.
“As with all old buildings the upgrading and maintenance of the building is a critical part of safeguarding the buildings fabric, so we hope folk will turn out to support not just us, but the building itself that has served the community so well over all those years.”
