RNLI quiz night is a success

PETERHEAD Lifeboat held a successful SOS quiz night recently - and raised an impressive £500 for the local station.

The Harbour Lights pub in North Street played host to the quiz on Friday, January 27.

With not only a quiz, but a raffle and food also available, the evening proved to be a resounding success for the RNLI.

The main part of the evening was the quiz where 60 questions were put together to terrify even the most hardened pub quiz aficionado.

Spread over five intense rounds, a total of 16 teams battled it out for the lion’s share of the 60 points on offer.

By the end of the evening however there was one clear winner.

The team “Quiz Team Aguilera” rose to the top with a very impressive 52 points and showed that they were indeed to be feared in the heady world of the pub quiz.

Winning team members were Rona MacKinnon, Graeme Davidson Ronald Whitham and Hugh (Hugo) Reid .

The quiz organisers gave congratulations to the winners before handing over their well-deserved prize of a monstrously large bottle of bubbly each, and a cash prize which they immediately donated back to Peterhead RNLI.

Organisers have also expressed thanks to the Harbour Lights for providing the venue and the stovies for the evening, and to regular question master Ian Brownlee and helpers for their sterling work on the night.

Thanks were also given to all the teams who took part on the night and helped make the evening such a success.
