Peterhead will host its first Muckle Market of the year tomorrow (Saturday) in the town’s Broad Street.
Organised by the Here For You Partnership, the community market will run from 10am to 3pm and will boast an array of stalls and attractions for everyone to enjoy.
Stalls will offer everything from hand-painted personalised bags to jewellery and scarves, tasty confectionery and preserves to model kits and collectables.
Throughout the day Buchan Community Radio and various popular guest singers including Angela Ireland together with the Lighthouse Rock group will provide entertainment for all.
A special attraction will be performances by the pupils of both the Lawrence Dance Academy in the morning and the Serena Wilson School of Highland Dance in the afternoon.
For the kids there will be face-painting, a host of bouncy castles and slides – one of them completely free of charge - and even a visit from Mickey and Minnie.
The May market will also see the return of those beautiful birds from the Owl and the Pussycat Centre, and those equally-beautiful Mutiny Tribal Belly Dancers!
Lending their colourful creative arts to promote the town centre event will be a team from Theatre Modo who will be stilt-walking during the day and hosting an afternoon circus skills workshop in the town’s Drummers Corner.
Here For You’s Ken Duncan said: “We are looking forward to seeing great community support for the first of our Muckle Markets on Saturday and will be praying for fine weather.
“Not only is the market a great outlet for local crafters and groups to trade and promote their activities, it also helps bring in visitors and shoppers who support our local retailers. It’s great to see so many stores running special offers which we hope will bring added interest on the day.”
Among the firms offering special deals this Saturday are Duncan’s Cycles, Symposium Coffee House, Purple Ink, Angel Cakes and Crafts, Aileen’s Childrenswear, Webster’s Pharmacy, Something Special, The Dolphin Café, Murdoch Allan and All Shakes.
Meanwhile, the next three markets are scheduled for July 25, September 26 and November 28 so you can get them booked in your diary.
Any crafters, traders or community groups wishing to book their stalls – costing just £20 - should call the organisers on 01779 478950 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
