It may only be spring but plans are already underway to bring this winter’s Peterhead pantomime to life.
Peterhead Panto Group have announced that the 2015 production will be Snow White.
Jason McGee, who is co-writing the panto this year with Alasdair Corbett, told the Buchanie that regular panto visitors will not be disappointed.
He said: “It will follow a traditional ‘Snow White’ plot but of course with our own Doric spin on it – set in and around the Buchan area with plenty of fun and laughter in ‘oor mither tongue’.”
“We first began by listing productions that we both would like to write and Snow White was one of two mutual shows on our lists.
“We then brainstormed both ideas before finally agreeing that Snow White was this year’s best choice.”
Jason also said that a lot of work is currently going on behind the scenes to ensure the show is another huge success as he explained: “The production team are already well underway planning this year’s show with the script, songs, set design, technical effects and all other aspects of the show being finalised in the coming months.
“Everything has to run like clockwork and the team needs to ensure everything is in place before the auditions, which will be held at the end of August.
“As directors, we are very excited to see the show develop before finally seeing the characters we write come to life.
“We follow an open audition format when looking for our cast as you never know who might turn up and we have found some fantastic local talent over the years.”
Last year’s production of “The Snow Queen” proved to be extremely popular with Blue Toon crowds as tickets were quickly snapped up, something Peterhead Panto Group are proud of.
Jason added: “Peterhead Panto Group has really built up it’s reputation over the years with extra performances having to be added to meet the demand for tickets.
“We are extremely proud of what the group achieves and it really is a community effort – and our thanks go to all of the community who continue to support the group!
“This year we will be staging 10 performances of ‘Snow White’ across the week long run which will open at Peterhead Community Theatre on Saturday, December 5 running until the following Saturday (December 12).”
