Joan Armatrading is currently mid way through her last major world tour and it will be her final one on this scale.
After 42 years this is not just her ultimate major tour, it is also, rather unbelievably, her first ever solo world tour.
Join Joan as she trawls through her songbook, utilising various guitars and a piano, when she shares some of her highlights of the last four decades when she visits the Music Hall, Aberdeen on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.
In 2007 Joan Armatrading became the first female UK artist to debut at number 1 in the Billboard Blues chart.
She also became the first ever female UK artist to be nominated for a Grammy Award in the blues category.
It is fair to say Joan Armatrading is a woman of substance - borne out by the Grammy and Brit Award nominations, the seven Honoury degrees, her own BA, the Ivor Novello and Basca Gold Badge awards.
Not forgetting her personal milestones which include meeting Nelson Mandela, getting her MBE and running the New York marathon.
Joan’s solo tour kicked off in South Africa earlier this year.
With nearly every show to date a complete sellout, it sees her on the road until the end of 2015.
It also encompasses the UK, Australia, North America, Germany, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, New Zealand and more concerts in South Africa.
Such has been the success of the shows in the UK that Joan returns in March 2015 to play a raft of further venues including the Music Hall.
Joan said: “I have absolutely enjoyed the last 42 years of performances but now, with my final major tour, I want to capture a unique memory for both myself and the audience.”
