This year’s Ugie Folk Festival will be held from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26 and will celebrate all that’s good in Traditional, Folk and Contemporary music in and around the North-east.
Festivities begin on the Friday night with the Festival Folk Night at Longside Football Social Club from 8pm.
The evening is free and everyone is welcome.
On the Saturday, once again Aden Country Park Theatre is the venue for the free Saturday Afternoon Concert.
Entertainment will be provided by Ugie Folk Club and Friends, and compared by Bill Buchan, with music starting at 1.30pm.
The Saturday Grand Concert has changed venue this year and will be held at Maud Village Hall starting at 7.30pm.
Ugie Wall of Sound will kick the evening off with a selection of songs and tunes from Ugie Folk Club members, Norman English will also entertain the crowd with the consummate ease of a seasoned professional, and concert goers will also be treated to a performance from this year’s headline act Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies.
Jez will look back on a quarter of a century of albums, concerts and festivals in the company of his much-admired band, the Bad Pennies.
Organisers expect a packed hall for the concert so, whilst entry is free and all are welcome, booking is advisable by calling 01651 851317.
Please note this is a BYOB event and there will also be raffles on the night.
Sunday sees the return of the free Original Song Writing Competition at Longside Football Club from 11am.
Songs must be original lyrics and written within the last 12 months.
As the years pass, this competition becomes more popular with some exciting, emotional, funny and sometimes surprising entries.
The traditional Wind-Down Session will follow at 2pm, everyone is welcome and like the other events, the session is free.
It’s laid back, guid craic, music, song and generally a relaxing way to conclude another busy Ugie Folk Festival.
