The Book of Deer Project is holding a special concert this year in Mintlaw public hall on Friday, November 7, at 7.30pm.

It will be a special occasion this year as the society’s old friend, Geordie Smith, has kindly gathered together all the artistes that took part in his concert party’s final show, which was held three years ago.

The committee has expressed thanks to Geordie for all the music, sangs and stories that he and the concert party have brought to many communities over theyears.

This special concert will be recorded on film as a thank-you and keepsake for Geordie.

Taking part in the show will be Geordie Smith - with his stories and sangs - Rosie Kellas on the keyboard, Moira Smith on the accordion and speens, Moira Stuart, a champion traditional singer, and making her second appearance at Mintlaw, Hannah Beattie, a brilliant young fiddler and singer.

Guest artiste is the society’s own Bill Gray, who has won most, if not all, the Bothy Ballad and Ballad competitions in Scotland.
