In this exciting year of the Queen’s Jubilee and the London Olympics, the Ythan Singers are celebrating 2012 with a concert of music from around the world and from great British composers.
The concert opens with Smetana’s lively opening chorus “Let Us Join in Celebration” from “The Bartered Bride”. The first half of the concert then takes the audience around the world to “Wonderful Copenhagen”, “Moscow Nights” and “On the Blue Danube”. It continues with songs from Italy, Spain, Africa, Australia and America celebrating many of the countries taking part in the Olympics. The second half has songs from well-known composers such as Vaughan Williams, Karl Jenkins, John Rutter, and Gilbert and Sullivan, with many well-known favourites for the audience to tap their feet and hum along.
This concert “Let’s Celebrate” is not to be missed and takes place on Wednesday June 6 at 7.30pm in Newburgh Public Hall.
The concert will be conducted by the choir’s musical director Morag Paton and accompanied by Rosemary Lund. Profits from the concert and the raffle will be donated to the Scottish Huntington’s Association.
Tickets are £6 and £4 concession and are available from Brian Wilkins on 01358 721838 or email@example.com or from choir members or on the door.
