Students at Banff and Buchan College showcased their work in creative arts & design and floristry and horticulture at the Annual Students Exhibition 2012 last week. It was the first college art exhibition to be held in the new Atrium.
The exhibition was a resounding success and was well attended by students, college staff and members of the public who came along to view the student’s work.
Art & Design, Floristry & Horticulture curriculum leader, Sandra Wilson, said: “It is a delight to host the exhibition in this wonderful new space within the college and our students have risen to the occasion by producing some absolutely wonderful exhibits.
“We have had a particularly exciting display this year by our floristry students, taking the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics as the inspiration for their astounding creations.
“This event is primarily about celebrating the student’s success, but I must also commend the huge effort put in by the lecturing team without whom it would not have been such a successful event.”
During the opening ceremony on Tuesday evening assistant principal Neil Cowie welcomed invited guests to the private view and praised the standard of student work.
Local artist Carn Standing presented the awards for ‘Best Student’ and ‘Most Improved Student’ in each individual categories, and ‘Best Exhibit in the Show’:
