Former Peterhead Academy girl, Kara-Louise Milne is living her childhood dream by making her international eventing debut this weekend at Somerford Park International Horse Trials in Cheshire.

Kara-Louise does this aboard her very special home produced mare ‘Tonagh High Fashion’ (Pixie) who, at only six years old, will be among the youngest there.

‘Pixie’ has soared up the ranks in British eventing classes since Kara bought her only a year ago from Ireland to produce, going double clear at every level, picking up some placings and qualifying for the British Young Event Horse Championships 2015.

Kara now works full time in the oil industry in Aberdeen and produces competition horses and ponies in her ‘spare’ time.

Speaking to the Buchanie, Kara said: “ I remember standing up in class at five years old and claiming I wanted to be a good horse rider - I was obsessed!

“As the years went on I moved from showjumping to eventing and have been hooked ever since. The dream was always to compete in international classes but as with any sport, especially horses it takes a lot of blood, sweat, tears and a little bit of luck to find the perfect partner and get to where you want to be.

“I am excited, nervous, appreciative and lucky to get this opportunity and would like to thank all my friends, family, trainers and sponsors Ronnie Low Photography for their continued help and support along the way.

“I will be kicking on and giving it my best,” she added.
