Arthur Selivanovs of Peterhead (red shorts/black vest) is declared the winner by a unanimous decision.

Peterhead prospect Artur Selivanovs, travelled to the Granite City recently and into the backyard of reigning Northern District and Scottish Intermediate 60kg Lightweight Boxing Champion, Luke Armstrong, to go head-to-head.

It was a significant fight for Selivanovs, as he moves up from the 56kg Bantamweight division to campaign in his first season at 60kg lightweight after an 11 month lay-off.

The move up in weight and the lay-off seemed to inspire Selivanovs as he quickly took centre of the ring.

He found his range making the champion fall short with his punches and made him pay with some sharp counters.

As the Peterhead prospect gained momentum he displayed devastating punching power with a series of heavy shots and forced the referee to intervene with a standing eight count.

Selivanovs continued to detonate big shots, but the Champion showed true grit to survive the round.

After a convincing first round, Selivanovs picked it up in round two looking eager to get his opponent out of there.

He landed almost at will to head and body, stunning and dazzling the Aberdonian.

After taking repeated heavy blows, the champion was forced to take another standing eight count in the second round.

Sensing he could be on the verge of a stoppage victory, the man from Peterhead threw everything at the Granite City man, who proved to have a granite chin and again toughed it out to see the end of the round.

With the win inevitable, Selivanovs opted to box on the back foot picking his opponent off as he came forward.

The drop in tempo seemed to suit the Champion who rallied and came on strong, but it was the skills of Peterhead’s Artur Selivanovs who prevailed winning the contest by unanimous decision.

You can see Artur Selivanovs in action along with other Peterhead and North East boxers in the ‘Battle of Balmoor II’, when a tough Glasgow Select team will travel to Peterhead in what is sure to be an epic night of action.

The next Peterhead boxing show will take place on Saturday, January 24, at Peterhead Football Club from 7pm to 11.30pm. Tickets are priced £15.
