APeterhead woman with additional support needs has won a gold medal at a national sporting championships recently.
Zoë Kane (24), won gold in judo at the 2013 Special Needs British Open Championships in Motherwell.
Zoë retrained in judo having previously won gold and silver medals in Shanghai’s Special Olympics for swimming in 2008 for team GB.
She said: “I have only been doing judo since last year. I trained for a year for the competition, learning judo techniques, ground work and practice for fighting, and overcame three rounds of contests to win gold.”
