A huge night of bodyslams is in store for Peterhead’s grappling fans as WrestleZone returns to Buchan this weekend.
The North-east’s top wrestlers will be in action at the town’s Palace Hotel for their annual bone-bending pro-wrestling spectacle on Saturday, March 7.
Six top bouts are in store for wrestling fans young and old, with one grappler looking to make his mark as he takes on his biggest rival.
Dave Paterson - otherwise known by his ring moniker “Mr P” – will battle Lord Alan Sterling in a huge grudge match set for the Peterhead event.
By day, Dave works as a technical studies teacher – but this weekend, he will be looking to teach a lesson inside the wrestling ring.
“Things are coming to a head with Lord Alan Sterling, and I am looking forward to teaching him some respect in Peterhead,” he said.
“Sterling undoubtedly is the class clown and he needs to learn that actions have consequences.
“He has mucked me about over the past few months, but that will all stop when we meet in Peterhead.
“I’m used to handling rowdy situations in the classroom and when that bell rings, it’s game time.
“I’m determined to score the victory and make Sterling think about his attitude and actions.”
At a recent wrestling event in Montrose, Lord Sterling cost Mr Paterson a victory against technical grappler Aspen Faith, bringing this issue to breaking point.
Mr Paterson, who has been wrestling for just over one year, may be less experienced than his opponent, but he hopes to “Embrace the Chaos” on March 7.
He continued: “WrestleZone events offer fun for all the family.
“From grandpa Joe who loved World of Sport’s Big Daddy and Mick McManus, to today’s kids who idolise John Cena and The Rock, there really is something for everyone at our events.
“I’m very thankful for the support our fans provide. Whether they are cheering or booing, they alwaysmake for a great atmosphere at the matches.
“Hopefully I can use that to my advantage and ensure I can put my rivalry with Lord Sterling to an end in Peterhead.”
Also set for action at the event are current champions Crusher Craib, Bryan Tucker and Shawn Johnson, while North-east favourite “Red-Haired Warrior” Scotty Swift will be in singles competition.
The event is family-friendly with doors at the Palace Hotel opening at 7pm.
Entry is pay-at-the-door priced £12 for adults and £8 for under 14s. More information can be found at www.wrestlezonescotland.co.uk or by phoning 07855 121777.
