Changes are afoot for local boxers as the Peterhead Boxing Club move into new premises and will also have a new timetable in place.
They will be using space at the Peterhead Music & Rock School on King Street.
The club said: “The town’s boxing club will be going ‘old school’ by moving to the old North School.
“The club will set up base in the former school gym hall and classes will begin in November, and it’s not just the building that’s old school.
“Traditional boxing training is hard, you need to be dedicated and there are no shortcuts. Discipline, respect, and manners all play an important part in the teachings of the noble art.
“Boxing gyms don’t typically have nice, new modern machines. They are simple, rough around the edges but have everything a fighter needs to prepare and get into the best physical condition possible.”
The club has devised a new timetable to offer more classes and allow for more practice time.
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5.30pm - 6.15pm, Minors (under 10 years); 6.30pm - 7.30pm, Juniors (under 16 years); 7.30pm - 9pm, Senoirs (over 16 years).
Mondays will be a drop-in session from 8pm-9pm.
Female on lessons will be offered on Wednesdays 8-9pm.
Davy Legg of the school said: “I am delighted for the boxing club to be moving in here.
“It is great to see how much the youngsters get from the boxing club.
“We already have the music classes and dancing lessons, so it is great to see another community group here.”
