Peterhead has a new professional sportsman in the form of Artur Selivanovs.
The 20 year-old sensation will be Peterhead Boxing Club’s first ever professional Boxer, who will make his pro debut later this year.
A spokesman from the club commented on the exciting news.
“We’re absolutely delighted that Artur will fulfill his dream by turning to the pro ranks.
“It’s excellent news not only for Artur, but for Peterhead as a whole.
“This lad is no doubt a future superstar, he started boxing with us at the age of 13 and has gone from strength to strength.
“He is very dedicated, talented and has an exciting style which suits the professional ranks.
“He’s a gentleman, a likeable cheeky chap, and an inspirational role model for all our budding athletes to aspire to. ,” he said.
“He’s already built up a good reputation and following with his exciting ‘all-action style’.
“He possesses all the characteristics of a champion, age is certainly on his side, and the sky really is the limit for Artur.
“We wish him the very best of luck, and will continue to support him as best we can in his journey”.
Artur added: “Firstly I’d like to thank my coach, James Price for without him I wouldn’t be where I’m at now.
“Also to all who have helped me and continue to support me on my journey.
“I’m looking forward to the Pro game. I’m very competitive and will do my best to become champion, nothing less will be good enough for me and I’m willing to put in the hard work to get there” he said.
“I hope to make my pro debut in Aberdeen later this year.
“I know it’s going to be tough and that there is little room for error, but I am prepared to sacrifice my time because every time I step in the ring,
“I need to be ready, focused and switched on.
To me boxing is more than just a sport it’s my home.
When I walk in to the gym I feel comfortable, because it’s my life and my team is my family.
Boxing saved me from the streets, drugs and alcohol.
“It’s gives me confidence, discipline and responsibility,” he said.
“To all young people aiming to live their dream, I’d encourage them to never give up.
It’s your dream and don’t be afraid to walk it alone, and don’t let others pull you down,” he added.
