Maud Fun Day is a big a hit

A fun day was held in the Maud Pleasure Park recently to raise funds for the local primary school football team.

The event featured traditional attractions including stalls, a coconut shy, face painting, ice cream and a bouncy castle.

Football and netball matches were held throughout the day - seven football teams contested the P1-3 category, 7 in the P4/5 category and 9 in the P6/7 category, while three teams competed in the P1-7 netball tournament.

In the football tournament, the winners of the P1-3 category were Maud A, with Longside runners-up. P1-3 player of the tournament was Ethan Mitchell from Longside.

The P4/5 winners were Maud A who pipped Kininmonth in the final, with Nathan Peden from Maud the pick fo the players.

Methlick won the P6/7 category, Maud A were runners up and the player of the tournament was Craig Taylor from Methlick.

Event organiser Dianne McLean said: “We have been organising the fun day for the last few months and we’re delighted with the turnout.

“We would like to thank everybody who has entered teams for the football and netball tournaments.

“And we would also like to thank the people who helped us to set up on the day and to everyone who has made today such a success.

Mrs Sue Baxter, who is a class teacher at Maud School, added: “Dianne has done a great job. She has put in so much hard work to make this such a fantastic event”.
