PETERHEAD and District Pigeon Racing Club sent 633 birds to compete in the second race from Perth at the weekend, a distance of approximately 98 miles.
North of Scotland Federation race controller Davie Hay had a more difficult task this week due to rain being forecast throughout the weekend, but luckily a window of better weather arrived on Saturday morning and Davie gave the go-ahead for the convoyer to release the 2,600 birds from eight clubs from around the North East and Moray coasts at 9.15am into high broken cloud and no wind which turned South easterly as the birds made their way home.
Stuart Maskame and Craig Mackie made it two wins on the trot timing last week’s winning pigeon, a two-years-old hen at 11.37am to claim her second red card of the season. Alan and Michael Geddes were runners-up with a yearling hen timed in at 11.39am.
