Peterhead Boxing Clubs’ Light Flyweight Youth Boxer Kyle Black has won Silver at the annual Open Class Scottish Championships in Motherwell.
Kyle narrowly missed out on the Gold medal in a contest that could not have been any closer, with many of the Motherwell crowd feeling he had done enough to win Gold.
It’s a great achievement for Kyle in what was his first ever Championships, and his first time moving from 2 minute to 3 minute rounds.
He was against a naturally heavier opponent, who had more experience, but Kyle boxed well and the gap in experience did not show.
Kyle can take a lot from the contest, and continue to develop and come back stronger.
His attitude and commitment has been a breath of fresh air.
Peterhead Boxing Club hopes to secure a rematch of the final between Kyle and Hamman Saddique from Edinburgh’s Leith Victoria Boxing Club at the next Peterhead Boxing show at the Palace Hotel on Friday, June 5.
