Peterhead Judo star Zoe Kane is celebrating after achieving a double medal win at the Lothian Special Olympics.
Zoe won a gold and silver medal at the event held over the weekend of September 26/27 at Dalkeith Community Campus.
She won her gold medal for Tachi-waza (general fighting) and her silver for Newaza (a form of Japanese knee fighting).
Zoe was the only representative from Grampian to compete in the Lothian Special Olympics, and said that she had done a lot of training to get prepared for the event.
She trains at Aberdeen Judo Club, based at the Beach Ballroom, and Zoe is encouraging others interested in joining the Special Needs Class to head along.
The class meets on Mondays from 6.30pm until 8pm and everyone is welcome to join.
Prior to her Lothian Special Olympics success, Zoe won silver at the British SN Open Championships in August.
Zoe’s brother John, who also competes in Judo competitions, went along to the Championships too and left with a silver medal.
Zoe is now planning to take a well deserved break before getting ready for more Judo competitions next year.
