Stuartfield driver Kyle Fowlie, 17, won his first podium place in the European Championship with a brilliant drive in the third round of the Rotax Max Euro Challenge.
Kyle started 7th on the grid in the final and was knocked back to 10th place with four laps to go. He made his way through the pack with some outstanding passing moves and swept into second place half a lap from the end. Kyle’s supporters at the track and those watching the live coverage on-line were treated to a spectacular race with positions changing by the second.
This second place follows Kyle’s first senior win in the third round of the British championship and moves Kyle into contention in the overall standings in both the British and European championships.
In Kyle’s debut season as a senior driver for Strawberry Racing he has impressed in karting circles and demonstrated his ability to more than hold his own against very experienced drivers. The winner at PFI, Mark Litchfield, is a 30 year old professional kart driver and a 5 times British senior champion.
Kyle races at Summerlee Raceway, Larkhall, in the next round of the British championship. This is one of Kyle’s favourite tracks.
