A busy month for Peterhead’s Jogscotland and athletics clubs

During September members of Peterhead Jogscotland and Peterhead Athletics Club took part in a variety of events across the country.

On Saturday, September 6, Jogscotland members took part in the Highland Perthshire Marathon and Half marathon event.

This included Stephen Bruce doing the marathon just missing going under four hours with a time of four hours one minute.

However, the stars of that event were the Jogscotland” tea ladies” Valerie Calder and Gail Davidson doing a half marathon for the very first time.

On Sunday the clubs had runners taking part in the Great North Run and in Elgin, The Glen Moray Marathon, Half marathon and 10k with Alan Reid of the athletics club finishing in fourth the marathon.

On the last weekend of September members took part in the BEAST in Banchory , the Inverness Marathon and Inverness 10k with many achieving personal best times.

A special mention must go to Martin Kerrigan for becoming our “marathon man” completing five marathons in five months, in China, Edinburgh, Dundee, Moray and finishing with a PB Inverness.

The athletics club is now preparing for the Peterhead 10k which will take place on Sunday November 9 at 1pm from Dales Park Pavilion.

Online entries at entry central preferred, though entries on the day until 12.30pm will be accepted.

Anyone interested in joining either club is welcome to go along on a Wednesday night to Peterhead Football Club at 6.30pm, where they will be happy to meet you and answer any questions.

Also, junior training sessions take place on a Tuesday at Catto Park.
