Maud came close to opening the score in the first minute when a back header by Strachan looped over home keeper Sweeney but the defender got back to clear.
Hermes attached on the right and Jack went past Hall and sent a dangerous cross in but keeper Dunbar held at the front post.
The home side took the lead when a long ball went over the Maud defence and Dawson Latched on to and he calmly lobbed Dunbar to open the scoring.
On 18 minutes it was all square when a Willox shot was deflected and it rebounded to Fraser who fired home.
A long ball forward by Sweeney fell to M Smith inside the Maud box and he rolled Main but his shot was blocked by Dunbar.
Hermes earned a corner and it was crossed in by Thomson and Pirie flicked on at the near post and Strachan rose high to head home.
Just before half time Maud has a big shout for a penalty when a Hermes player handled inside the box but the referee waved it aside.
First chance of the second half fell to the visitors but Frasers shot was straight at Sweeney who gathered comfortable.
Hale played a ball through to Fraser but again his shot was weak and easily saved.
A sweeping move on the left for Hermes and Thomson cross ball found Stewart whose first timed volley went close.
Main played a ball over the Willox was n on goal but Strachan made a fine tackle inside the box.
A Fraser ball found Willox on the edge of the ball and his shot was tipped over the bar by Sweeney.
Maud pushed forward and Willox was fouled just outside the box but the referee played on.
As Maud pushed on a break by the home side Macklin whose ball played Thomson in on goal but Dunbar came rushing out to make a fine save, resulting with Maud losing 2-1 to Hermes.
Maud battled well to the end deserved to get something from a hard fought match but came up short on the goals.
Maud’s next game is home to Hall Russell United on Saturday, February 21 in the PMAC Superleague with a 2pm kick off.
