Robbie Winters and Dean Cowie, who have been trial with Peterhead during pre-season, have now put pen to paper on contracts as Jim McInally puts the final touches to his squad before the new campaign kicks off on Saturday.
Winters (37), has signed a short-term deal at Balmoor, and celebrated by netting the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win over Fraserburgh as Peterhead retained the Scottish Week Challenge Cup.
Commenting on the former Dundee United, Aberdeen and Scotland man, Blue Toon boss Jim McInally said: “His link-up play is excellent, his knowledge of the game. He’s here until the end of August and hopefully it works out for both of us that we can make it longer term.”
Meanwhile, Dean Cowie returns to Balmoor for a second spell following time with Turriff United and Fraserburgh, and also in Australia.
McInally said “As soon I came to Peterhead he came to see me. He’d just come back from Australia but I think he felt he wasn’t ready to do himself justice so he went to Fraserburgh.
“I watched him play in the Aberdeenshire Cup final, and he is my cup of tea. He’s aggressive, neat and tidy on the ball and he gets about the park. I think he’s got a lot of assets that we’re missing from our team.
“The pleasing thing is that it shows his ambition. I think he’d been offered a better deal elsewhere, a significantly better deal.”
