Hearts had league leaders Colony Park as visitors in a Morrison Cup Quarter Final at Raemoss Park.
The rain all week ensured a heavy pitch.
The opening exchanges were pretty even, Colony Park forced a couple of corners but Hearts’ goalkeeper Fuerst was in a confident mood and dealt with them easily.
Hearts came into the game and Walker nearly threaded a good ball to Ballard but Maitland cleared the danger.
Alex Davidson went past the right back and his cross was saved by Dugvid.
Hearts then went ahead when Gary Davidson broke down the left and his shot was flicked home by Dane Ballard to put Hearts 1-0 ahead.
Keith and Duncan were coping very well with the presence of danger man Strachan.
Kenny Mair beat Crosbie and his cross found no takers in the box.
Just on half time, Kenny Mair hit a tremendous shot which beat Duguid but agonisingly came off the bar.
They came close again when Dorrat just missed a Strachan cross at the back post.
Hearts then got their second wind and took control of the game by getting on top and it was no surprise when they went 2-0 up when Alex Davidson did well and his cross to the back post was met by Michael Bruce who sidefooted home.
Hearts kept up the pressure and Bruce wasn’t far away with a header from a Davidson corner.
Hearts then subbed Donaldson for Walker.
Fuerst pulled off a good stop from a deflected Robinson shot to keep Hearts from conceding a late goal but the icing on the cake was made when Duguid, under pressure from a pass back, gave possession to Dane Ballard to shoot into the empty net in 89 minutes to make it 3-0 and the game safe.
This was another great performance from Hearts who are playing really well and put Colony Park to the sword.
Hearts would like to thank Billy McNeil and Associates for sponsoring the match.
Their next game will be away at Colony Park with a 1.30pm k.o.
