Second half goal-blitz sees Maud take the victory

Maud welcomed FC Stoneywood on Saturday in a PMAC Super League encounter.

The first chance fell to Bremner from a brilliant cross from Whyte but his shot was straight at the away keeper Wilkinson.

Once again Maud went in front with another early goal when Duguid connected with a cross by Whyte to put the home side ahead.

Duff sent a dangerous cross the Maud six-yard box but Simpson managed to get a good block in.

Bremner had a great chance to double the home side lead but he shot wide with just the keeper to beat.

Maud had a big claim for a penalty waived aside by the referee.

The away side drew level when Campbell was fouled inside the Maud box by Kirk.

The striker got up and sent the home keeper the wrong way to level the score.

Wilkinson did well to deflect the ball out for a corner from a Conway shot.

On 39 minutes Maud restored their lead from a Conway corner was headed on by Duguid and Kirk stroked the ball home from close.

In the opening minutes of the second period, the away side came close after a Taylor shot was deflected wide by Rae for a corner which was cleared by Simpson.

Minutes later it was all square when a great cross from the left was met by Campbell who guided his header into the roof of the net.

Maud were forced into a change when Hall got injured and was replaced by Buchan.

A Willox shot was deflectedwide off Wood and at the other end Campbell came close with a drive from distance.

On 72 minutes Maud replaced Bremner by Hale. Fraser fizzed a ball across the six-yard box but therewere no takers in the box.

Maud were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty box.

Hale stepped over the ball and Duguid curled the ball round the wall and even though the keepergot a hand to it he couldn’t keep it out.

With ten minutes left Maud were awarded a pen afterKirk was fouled inside the box and Simpson was shown the red card.

Up stepped Duguidwho calmly sent the keeper the wrong way to net his hatrick and Maud’s fourth goal.

Rae was then replaced by Ritchie.

Maud made good use of the extra man and were passing the ball about well and a Duguid shot was deflected and fell to the feet of Hale who fired home number five for the home side.

The hard working Conway finally got his goal with minutes remaining when he was fed the ball to his feet inside the box and he turned his marker and fired low into the corner of the net.

This was a game that Maud started well and got an early goal but wasted a few good chances to increase their lead.

A mistake let the away side back into the game but Maud battled well to get in front and came strong in the end to scorer four second half goals.

Maud’s next game is in the Grill League Cup final on Sunday, October 12, at Davidson Park, Longside against Hermes Kick-off for the match is at 2pm.
