Peterhead Football Club has announce the signing of Rory McAllister, one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football, on a two-year contract.
The 24-year-old has been courted by a host of clubs such as St Johnstone, Aberdeen and St Mirren in Scotland, as well as Sheffield United, Charlton and Port Vale down south all having been linked with him.
Rory, who scored 29 goals for Brechin City in the Second Division last season, was also named the Irn Bru Second Division player of the year, and Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) winner.
He becomes John Sheran’s tenth new signing of the season in a vastly changed Peterhead side.
Rory has played for the Blue toon before, turning out four times and scoring one goal in the 2007-08 season while on-loan from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
John Sheran said: “This is a major coup for Peterhead Football Club, without the assistance of several members of the board this deal wouldn’t have happened.
“There was stiff competition for Rory’s signature from SPL sides and English first division sides and a host of other sides have showed interest, so for Peterhead to secure his signing is a great achievement.
“It is a wise choice for Rory McAllister the player and Rory McAllister the person to develop his game while at the same time continue to earn his trade qualifications to fall back on when he stops playing football.
“He lives and works in Aberdeen so Peterhead are the right club to support Rory as he can achieve both career goals with us.
He had many offers to return to full-time football but he is sensible lad and those opportunities will still be there if he continues to play to the level he is capable of with Peterhead.”
The club is also delighted to announce a special deal that will see the new seasons’ Peterhead Football club shirts sponsored by North East Reprographics for the friendly matches against Falkirk on July 9 at Balmoor Stadium, Cove Rangers on July 11, and Airdrie United at Balmoor on the July 16.
