Link Up and Thistle clashed in a cup final which was overshadowed by a red card and saw Rosehearty triumph 2-1.

A good final was contested well by both teams and there was not much to choose between the two teams.

The turning point came when Link Up were reduced to 10 men and having to play the last 40 minutes a man down but Rosehearty stuck at the task and probably just shaded the game in the end.

The match kicked off in good conditions and it was Lizzy that won a free kick out on the right and was floated in by Clark towards the back post where keeper Reid managed to punch clear.

On 18 minutes Link up took the lead when a Cassie cross to the back post found Buchan unmarked and he had a simple finish.

Rosehearty hit back and Anderson came close to levelling the game but saw his header flash wide.

A mistake by Whylie in the link up goal let in McLaren but his shot drifted wide of the post.

Link up had a call for a penalty but the referee cautioned Third for simulating a dive which was to prove costly later in the game.

Cassie made another fine run down the right but his fine cross found no takers in the box.

Link Up keeper Whylie then made a fine save at the feet on the inrushing McLaren to preserve their lead.

Rosehearty then had two more chances before half time but neither Norris nor Timmins could find the target.

Link Up went in 1-0 up at the break.

The second half started with Rosehearty in attack which earned them a corner which was swung in and the ball was stabbed goalwards but came back off the post where McLaren was first to react to stab the ball home to level the score.

A minute later Link Up were reduced to 10 men after Third was sent off but this seem to spur on the 10 men.

McLeman put in some great work down the right but his shot was straight at Reid from a tight angle

From a corner a Stephen shot was cleared off the line by substitute McPherson.

Another chance by Link Up came from a Clark shot which Reid did well to push wide.

Rosehearty took the lead against the run of play when another sub young Kiran Moir who was just on the park volleyed home from the right of the penalty box into the bottom corner of the net.

Timmins was next to test shot Whylie who made a fine save.

Moir nearly landed his second goal but Whylie managed to push round the post. Stephen tried a shot from 30 yards which needed Reid to tip over the bar.

Just at the end of the game Link Up thought they had drawn level when keeper Reid spilled the ball and it was bundled over the line but was ruled out due to a hand ball.
