Rory McAllister bagged a brace as Peterhead came from behind to beat Stenhousemuir at Ochilview Park on Saturday.
Stenhousemuir started the better side when Gary Oliver sent the ball across the goal but there was no-one there to take advantage and the Blue Toon defence breathed a sigh of relief.
They kept up the pressure and again almost came close when Oliver got past two defenders, but he was booked by the referee for diving.
Jamie Stevenson finally gave the Blue Toon fans something to shout about when he came close on the half-hour mark, but his shot flew over the bar.
Soon afterwards Ryan Strachan almost made his mark, but again his shot was too high.
The first half ended goalless but both sides came out on the attack after the break and Peterhead almost got the opener when Stevenson hit a 25-yard effort which just inched past the post.
It was Stenhousemuir who looked likely to score next when Jamie Ried shot against the crossbar.
And they finally got the goal when a Tom Walsh cross from a tight angle was headed in by McMenamin.
Peterhead didn’t let the goal rattle them however and they continued to put pressure on the Stenny goal and managed to get themselves level when McAllister produced a side-footed effort which landed in the corner of the net.
And they almost took the victory shortly afterwards when McAllister again fired in a header which was cleared off the line by Robbie Duncan.
Shortly afterwards the Blue Toon’s Stevenson made a surging run into the box only to be tripped by Ross McMillan.
The referee pointed to the penalty spot and McAllister stepped up and send the goalie the wrong way to give Peterhead the late winner and all three points.
PETERHEAD: Smith, Donaldson (Rodgers 72), Ross, Noble, Cox, Brown (Richardson 89), Riley (Smith 94), Redman, Strachan, McAllister, Stevenson.
