PETERHEAD is gearing up for a memorable weekend as they take on The Rangers in their first league game of the 2012/13 season.
The sell-out encounter will be screened live on Sky Sports with a 12.45pm kick-off, and will be Rangers first game in the third division following a turbulent summer period.
Blue Toon chairman, Rodger Morrison, said that the club was ready for the game with only a few corporate places left, with Balmoor’s main stands sold out.
“Everything is in place for Saturday and we’re looking forward to welcoming The Rangers for the first game of the new season,” said Mr Morrison.
“There will be segregation in place, while there will be no parking on the day at the club.
“Our match sponsors for the day are Argyll Scaffolding, while Asco are ball sponsors.
“There will be a commemorative scarf on sale - half Peterhead half Rangers - while there will also be a special souvenir programme available on the day.
“We’re advising fans to come early to ensure they get their seats well before kick-off as this will be a busy day for the club,” he said.
“Corporate entertainment will be led by local MC Ian Thain, with special guest for the day, Andy Cameron.
“It’s been a mammoth effort from everyone involved, but we’re more than ready for the new season ahead,” he added.
Meanwhile, safety information has been released by Peterhead for Saturday’s historic game.
Fans are asked to note that the stadium car park and Astro turf facilities will be closed to public vehicles from 6pm on Friday to 6pm on Saturday to allow access for construction activities and the car park will remain closed for the duration of the event to ensure safety of spectator movement.
Parking in the stadium car park is by strictly by prior permission of Peterhead Football Club.
Balmoor Terrace and Catto Drive will have parking restrictions for the duration of the event. There is drop-off only on Balmoor terrace, alternatively car parking is available in the community centre bus park or former Focus car park.
The Rangers supporters section allocation has been fully issued to The Rangers Football Club; a ticket for The Rangers end can only be purchased directly from The Rangers FC
There will be strict segregation outside the stadium, The Rangers supporters shall only access the stadium via Catto Park entrance.
All Peterhead supporters shall access the stadium via Balmoor Terrace. There will be no access to away turnstiles from Balmoor Terrace.
All visiting team supporter buses travelling to the stadium will enter Peterhead via the town bypass following football traffic signage.
There will be a significant operation for all supporters to check tickets and searching for unauthorised items, this may delay entry slightly.
It is strongly recommended that supporters turn up early to avoid delays and to gain the best possible viewing position. Turnstiles will open to the Stadium at 11.30am.
There will be strictly no admittance to Balmoor Stadium in the home supporters sections to any person wearing or displaying The Rangers FC colours. There will be no reallocation to The Rangers supporter section of the stadium, the person will be refused entry or ejected from the stadium
Balmoor Stadium ground regulations and the Peterhead FC Unacceptable Behaviour Policy will be strictly enforced during the event.
Any flag taken to the stadium must have the appropriate fire safe certification to be permitted entry to the stadium. No advertising hoardings are to be covered by flags. Large Flags (measuring over 2 meters by length or depth) will not be permitted entry to the stadium.
The Balmoor Stadium Sports Bar will be closed at 12.15pm for two hours, reopening at 2.15pm. The Peterhead match will not be shown in the sports bar.
The toilets in the bar will be closed from 11.30am, however alternative toilets will be available.
