Misery continues for Hearts

BUCHANHAVEN Hearts had high-flying Deveronside as visitors to Raemoss Park on a very dreich afternoon,

Deveronside started well and Smith wasn’t far away from a cross from Davidson. The play was getting bogged down with both defences giving nothing away.

Bruce McLean played a ball into Hart whose cross flashed across the goalmouth with Ballard just missing it at the back post.

McLeod was weaving his way into the box but a good tackle from King saved the day for Deveronside. Glendinning was then injured and replaced by Will.

Deveronside came close when Smith got on the end of a cross from Davidson but headed well wide with half time approaching.

Deveronside now had the breeze with them and Kinghorn headed a corner just over the bar, Powell had a chance but he blasted over from a good position.

Deveronside took the lead when a cross from Smith was blocked but it fell kindly to McLean and his shot just crept passed Simpson in goal to put the visitors ahead.

Hearts tried hard but couldn’t penetrate the Deveronside defence, then Deveronside got their second goal of the game when Smith glanced a header passed Simpson after a Blackhall cross to make it 0-2.

Hearts nearly pulled a goal back but Tait saved well from a Ryan Duncan shot.

Things went from bad to worse for Hearts when Ballard was sent off for an alleged elbow on King.

Hearts found it hard towards the end with no way back with onlyten men.

This was a poor game with Deveronside getting the breaks for the victory.

Yet again with players missing it was another depleted squad and the Hearts are finding it very hard at the moment to get a settled team on the park.

Their next game is away to Bridge of Don Thistle in Division 1 on the Friday night, with the kick-off at 7.45pm.

Hearts: Simpson, B. McLean, Glendinning, Cunningham, Clark, Abolghassam, Hart, Powell, Ballard, Duncan, McLeod. Subs: J. McLean, Will, Gillies.
