Hearts travelled to Lossiemouth to take on Lossiemouth United in a Morrison Trophy 1st round tie.

Hearts went into attack and straight from the kick off Barbour turned Stewart but Fraser made a great save to keep the score level. Lossie gradually worked their way into the game and a ball from Whitlock flashed across the Hearts six yard box.

Lossie took the lead when a ball down the right was crossed by Fairweather and Stewart could not miss from 6 yards. Hearts Barbour again turned the Lossie defence but Frawser made another great save to deny the striker.

Glendinning hit a free kick against the upright then McLeod was not far away with a shot from outside the box. Hearts were shocked when Lossie broke away in 44 minutes to score through Fairweather then Glendinning was sent off for a second bookable offence right on half time.

Hearts re-shuffled the team at half time but it was short lived when Lossie won a corner and McKenzie scored with a free header to put the game beyond ten men Hearts. Hearts then enjoyed a lot of possession but could not find a break in front of goals. Barbour again came close then a shot from Norris just went over.

Then Lossie struck again in a breakaway when Whitlock was given time to poke home a ball from the right to make it 4-0. Hearts got a consolation when sub Nathan Sandison hit home a loose ball in the Lossie box to pull one back.

Hearts again came close when a Norris flick on found Barbour who seemed certain to score but shot past the post. Lossie again hit Hearts on the break and scored two scrambled goals in the closing minutes through Campbell and Whitlock.

A scoreline which flatters Lossie United with Hearts having most of the play but with no finishing touches.

They shot themselves in the foot by going down to ten men just before half time. Most of Lossies goals were breakaways with some poor defending.

Another day and Barbour would have had another hat trick but found Fraser in great form. Next game is home to New Elgin on Saturday 29th January. Kick off 2.00pm.
