Second placed Cuminestown faced third placed Grange United in the Buchan Welfare League at the weekend and it was the away side that came away with all three points with a 7-3 win.
Brent Holtby-Wall scored the first goal, Gary Milne claimed the second - a superb half volley from the edge of the box after a cleared corner - while AJ Buchan had the third, fourth and fifth to complete his hatrick in between a brilliant looping header from Marc Walker that beat the keeper but hit the bar and bounced on the line and back out.
Holtby-Wall then got his second and then Marc Walker finally got the goal his brilliant play deserved with the away side’s seventh goal. Replying for the home side were Steven Whitecross, John Jamieson and Aiden Bruce.
Ardallie hit the magic dozen against Harbour Lights in their 12-1 win. The home scorers were Stuart Park netting five, Darren Thomson with a hatrick, a brace from Grant Elrick and one each from Sam Aitken and manager Alan Bartlet. Scoring the consolation for the away side was Jamie Duncan.
Methlick entertained BH Rangers in a league game and the home side went on to win by 9-2. The winning goals came from Craig Yule scoring four, a hatrick from Kevin Taylor and one apiece from Stuart Sleigh and Neil Trial. For Rangers were Wayne Parsons and Doug Stuart.
Mambos entertained rivals Phd Pensioners and the home side went on to gather another three points in a win by five goals to one.
The Mambos scorers were David Gourley with a double, one a penalty, and one each from Darren Cunningham, Ross Campbell and Andy Whyte. Replying for the away side was Neil Cunningham.
Mambos entertained Grange United in a league game and the visitors started quickly and Ross Mair gave them the lead.
Thompson nearly drew the home side level when he lobbed the keeper but Gallagher back in time to save. Jason Watson then added a second and AJ Buchan was played in on goal and he lobbed the keeper to make it 3-0.
Goal of the game came when J. Donaldson played J. Watson on the left and he played across to AJ Buchan who slotted home number four.
Alan Brown with a neat lobb pulled one back for Mambos before half time. James Watson netted his second and the Grange’s fifth before Jordan Fraser got Mambos’ second to end the scoring.
Cuminestown faced Methlick in a quarter-final match in the Cuminestown Shield and it was the away side that go through to the semi-finals after a 5-3 win.
The winning goals were scored by Kevin Taylor with a hatrick and one each from Gavin Marr and Craig Mitchell and for the home side were James Williamson, David Stephen and Steven Whitecross.
Ardallie faced Buchanhaven Rangers in another quarter-final place and the home side ran out winners with the odd goal in five. The home scorers were Stuart Park, Darren Thompson and Peter Jackson and replying for the away side with a brace was Paul Taylor
