Buchanhaven Hearts 6
After recent disappointing results both on and off the pitch, Buchanhaven Hearts travelled to Aberdeen at the weekend to take on East End on a horrendous day of wether with sleet and a howling gale greeting the players.
Hearts were looking for all three points to kick-start their season.
East End had the wind behidn them and started slightly better and took the lead when a ball was lobbed into the box and landed at the feet of McLelland.
He failed to miss from two yards out to put the visitors ahead.
Hearts hit back and good play from Ritchie set up Park, but his shot was way too high.
The visitors equalised when Cameron found Ritchie who passed to the in-rushing Kevin Park who lashed home a beauty from 20 yards giving Baldwin no chance to make it 1-1.
East End broke through MBarki who ran the length of the park and almost scored, but Kris Keith saved with a great tackle.
Hearts went 2-1 ahead when they worked the ball across the box and Ritchie Liegertwood calmly slot past Baldwin.
East End hit the bar with a great shot from Johnston but an East End flayer was standing offside so it wouldn’t have counted.
The first half finished 1-2 to the visitors.
Hearts had the wind behind them in the second period and it wasn’t long before they made it 3-1 when Cameron was hauled down by Middler in the box.
Middler was show the red card and Richie Ligertwood scored from the spot to make it three.
Hearts subbed Ritchie with Ballard and continued to keep up the pressure.
They made it 4-1 when Jack Tait found Dane Ballard in the box and he turned and shot past Baldwin.
Hearts subbed Walker for Park. It was all Hearts and Baldwin saved from Ballard.
Hearts won a corner and Ross Walker’s corrner was headd home by Mark Simpson at the back post to make it five.
Hearts were playing well and East End had no answer. They made it 6-1 when a Ross Walker free kick was headed past Baldwin by Ballard. Hearts saw out the game comfortably.
This was a good second half display in terrible conditions which saw Hearts get back to winnng ways.
There were no failures as they strolled to three welcome points. Buchanhaven Herats’ next game is in the Morrison Trophy at home to Newmachar United with a 2pm kick-off.
