Maud were sent crashing out of the Dominos Pizza North Regional Cup 1st rd by three-goal Dyce.
The Buchan side started the match well and had a big shout for a penalty early on but the referee waived aside their claims.
Murray had a shot from distance which went well over the bar before Steven Dolan came close with a freekick which Barbour was able to push over the bar.
Maud went close when a Fraser cross was headed just over by Barbour. Dyce took the lead on 18 minutes with a drive by Steven Bartlett from inside the box which was deflected past Barbour in the home goal.
A quick attack from the visitors ended in a cross by Dolan to the back post where Murray headed back across goal and Stuart Morrison headed over the bar from six yards.
On the half-hour mark Dyce doubled their lead when Bartlett was played through and with the Maud players looking for offside he cooly slotted past Barbour.
Maud earned a freekick 20 yards from goal but Hales’ shot went well over the bar. A good move by Maud when Hall played down the left for Barbour and he fed Chalmers but he hit a weak shot straight at Buchanan who held easily.
Two minutes after the restart Dyce went further ahead when a corner was swung across to the front post where Fraser hall headed into his own net.
Murray was causing Maud a lot of problems down the left and he crossed for Bartlett who couldn’t keep his header on target.
With 55 minutes gone Maud made a change with Duguid replacing Hall. Maud’s first real chance of the game came in 58 minutes when hale played a through ball to Graham who dragged his shot wide of the target.
Maud then made a second change with Stott replacing Chalmers and for Dyce Morrison went off for R Stewart.
Fraser came close to pulling a goal back but his shot came crashing back off the bar. Dyce made their second change with Morrison going off to be replaced by S Robinson.
Fraser created another half chance for himself inside the box but failed to hit the target.
A good move by Dyce on the right saw Steel play a great ball to Coyle wide left and his cross was headed over by Steven Bartlett. Barbour showed quick feet to beat two p
layers inside the Dyce box but his shot was pushed out for a corner by Buchanan which was swung in and Barbour out jumped the Dyce defence but saw his header cleared off the line.
Just before full time Bartlett had a chance for his hatrick but Barbour came rushing out to deny the striker.
This was a poor performance by Maud, who started the game well, but after the first 15 minutes fell away and Dyce controlled the game throughout.
Maud did create a few chances in the last 15 minutes but by this time the game was lost.
Overall this was a well-deserved win for Dyce who now go through to the next round.
Maud will need a much better performance next week when they play hosts to New Elgin in the PMAC Group Superleague with a 2pm kick off.
