Angus South sport understands that Brechin City boss Ray McKinnon is in talks with Raith Rovers about their vacant manager’s position.

Sources indicate that McKinnon is top of Rovers’ shortlist to fill the vacancy left by the sacking of Grant Murray.

It is also understood that he may have already been offered the role by the Kirkcaldy outfit, with no decision made on his part yet.

Recently-relegated St Mirren are also believed to be after the popular manager.

Brechin announced last month that McKinnon had put pen to paper on a new contract with the Glebe Park club, the details of which were left confidential.

Ray became City boss in October 2012 after spells with Lochee United and Broughty Athletic, as well as a stint with the SPL as Technical Development Officer.

Brechin City officials had yet to comment at the time of publication.
