Promising young Peterhead midfielder Jamie Beagrie has been sold to Highland League side Turriff United.

Beagrie, who signed for the Blue Toon from Cove in January and was immediately put back to the Wee Rangers on loan, has not featured at all this season.

The youngster is highly rated by Toon manager Jim McInally but due to offshore work commitments he could not make a meaningful contribution.

McInally said: “It just wasn’t workable. Basically he wanted the opportunity to try and keep playing and Turriff are prepared to have him for two weeks and not have him for the next two weeks.

“It’s not an easy thing. That’s why it worked so well at Cove because the players knew him so well and they were happy for him to come in and out.”

Coveted Beagrie joins Aberdeen hero Darren Mackie at The Haughs as new backers pour money into Turriff.

The sale comes at the end of a week which also saw a bizarre clandestine approach for three top Toon stars.

General manager Nat Porter received an email from a man claiming to represent Turriff enquiring about a triple purchase of Rory McAllister, David Cox and Dean Cowie.

McInally has made it clear the trio are not for sale.
