CRUDEN BAY entertained Buckie Rovers in another PMAC Division Two game on Satrurday

The visitors started brightly and put the home side under pressure in the opening minutes. Play then became more even, but neither side created any real cut chances.

Buckie then really began to get their act together with some neat sharp passing and put the Bay defence under pressure.

However, in a Bay attack, Ramsay battled well in midfield and put the ball into the box, which no Bay player could take advantage of.

The Bay did manage some attacks; in one, following a neat move, Stainton’s effort from 25 yards went over the bar; in another a 20-yard shot from Ramsay went straight to Sherman and then a Walker shot also went over.

However, Buckie continued their sharp passing game and their efforts were rewarded after 24 minutes when Bruce broke clear and put in a cross shot which beat Evans in the home goal.

At the other end, Sherman had to save a Tocher effort at the second attempt and was then quickly off his line to block a Ramsay effort.

The visitors finished the half still putting the Bay defence under pressure and continued where they left off at the re-start, an early long range shot from Wood going just wide.

Buckie increased their lead after 51 minutes when Smith ran through unchallenged and rammed the ball past Evans.

The Bay, however, did have joy five minutes later, when substitute Whyte latched onto as through ball from Sime and ran on to slide the ball past Sherman.

That joy was short lived, though, as within two minutes the visitors had increased their lead again.

Following poor defending in the Bay when several players including Evans failed to clear their lines, Legg latched onto the ball and slotted into the net.

The Bay had an escape when a Legge cross from the left just went wide of Evans back post, and as Buckie continued to press Smith put an effort from 25 yards over the bar. Evans then made a good save with his feet from a Smith free kick.

The visitors were awarded a penalty when Glendinning upended Wood in the box. However, Evans saved Smith’s spot kick, parrying the ball away.

They increased their lead after 75 minutes when Smith scored after Evans had made another good save from Legge.

The Bay did try and reduce the arrears but their efforts had little effect on a resolute Buckie defence.

However, in one attack, following good work by Glendinning, Mair was robbed by D. Thain as he attempted to shoot.

A break on the right by Whyte saw Glendinning put his effort wide as he was challenged by M. Gauld.

In another Bay attack, Reid put the ball over from six yards following a good cross from Ramsay on the left.

With four minutes left, the Bay reduced the arrears when Buchan latched onto a good ball from Glendinning and ran on to put the ball into the net.

The Bay had another escape, when Evans again saved with his feet from Smith with Findlay then completing the clearance.

In the end the end, the Bay were a well-beaten side at the hands of a good Buckie Rovers outfit.
