CRUDEN Bay visited Colony Park on Saturday in another PMAC League Division Two fixture.

The home side had an early fright when a sliced kick from Duguid caused a scramble in the box, but the ball was eventually cleared.

The Bay went ahead after four minutes. Cowe did well on the byline and put in a cross which was headed in the net at the near post by Mair.

They kept up their early momentum and a long range cross from on the left by Wisely went across goal.

However, the Bay had a let-off when they they failed to clear their lines and the ball fell to Strachan but the Colony Park striker put the ball over the bar.

Cruden Bay also had a chance when, following further good work by Cowe, he put Glendinning clear who rounded keeper Duguid but then put the ball across goal and not into the net.

Bay pressure paid off in the tenth minute when good inter passing by the Bay found Stainton just outside the box; the Bay striker made no mistake with a looping shot which went over Duguid and into the net.

The home side tried to get back into the game and S. Buchan did well to save at the second attempt from McDonald after the visitors failed to clear the ball in a Colony Park attack and then the same player put the ball across the Bay, goal which no one was able to connect with.

The home side had another chance when a when a Strachan shot rebounded of the Bay post; luckily for the Bay, S. Buchan was able to collect the rebound.

As the home side came more into the game the Bay were finding it more difficult to get their passing going.

The Bay did have a chance when Cowe robbed Crosbie and put the ball through to Reid; however the Bay striker could not take advantage of the pass.

The home side continued to try and get back into the game. McDonald put the ball well wide in one attack and S. Buchan parried a 30-yard free kick from Bonarius with Arthur completing the clearance by putting the ball out for a corner, which was cleared by the Bay defence.

McDonald broke clear inanother attack but Arthur did well to get back and put in a timely tackle.

In an early second half attack by the Bay , Cowe put in a weak shot which was easily collected byDuguid in the home goal.

At the other end an effort from ten yards from McDonald was easily collected by S. Buchan.

A break by the Bay then saw another Cowe effort blocked by the home defence.

The home were really trying to reduce the arrears at this stage; a Bonarius shot from the edge of the box went wide and in another attack Buchan blocked a Maitland effort, the ball rebounding onto the post and the ball was cleared . S. Buchan then saved at the feet of McDonald.

Then Macleod headed a Maitland corner well over the bar.

The Bay did mount counter attacks; in one a good run on the left by Ramsay ended with him putting the ball to Reid, however the latter ran the ball out of play.

Then a long clearance from defence found Tocher but keeper Duguid was quickly out to save and a long run through the middle by Ramsay ended with Duguid saving at his feet as he was about to shoot.

Reid then put the ball over from eight yards following a Mair free kick from just outside the area.

The home side continued to put the Bay under pressure; a 30-yard pass from Maitland found McDonald who then put his effort from just inside the box well over the bar.

In a Bay counter attack, Ramsay tried to put Reid clear, but the ball was too long for the Bay player to reach.

In another colony park attack MacLeod, who was apparently in an offside position, collected the ball; however, once again S. Buchan was smartly off his line to parry the effort away for a corner.

In another Bay counter attack Ramsaywas put free by Tocher and ran on goalwards, but the final effort went across goal and then Sangster made a good run through the home defence but once more the effort was wide. The home side continued to press to the final whistle but the bay defence held out.

This was a fine performance by the Bay, who, especially in the second half were under a lot of pressure; however their defence remained resolute with every Bay player put in a good shift.
