Afternoon of action in Buchan Welfare League

IN the Buchan Welfare League, Longside had Harbour Lights as visitors and John Arthur put the away side 1-0 but Jason Donaldson levelled for Longside. Michael Rhynd put the away side ahead once more.

Into the second half and Ewan Little levelled the scores once more. Longside stepped it up a gear in the second half going on to score six more goals with Calum Davidson netting a hatrick and one each from Scott McSeveney, Craig Stephen and Dave Fraser.

Hatton were facing Mambos in a league game and the home side got off to a perfect start when Alan Geddes put them a goal up.

The home keeper made a good save coming out to block a Hay shot.

Hatton manager Bain was played in on goal and he tried to chip Watson in the away goal but Watson did well to save. Cowie was next to shoot but Watson did well to push out for a corner.

The home keeper made a great double save to preserve Hatton’s lead. Hatton doubled their lead after some great work by Geddes on the right and his inch-perfect cross found Cowie unmarked and he had a simple header.

Liam Spence was played in on goal but Watson made a good save. Cowie should have made it three but his header went wide after some great work by Spence. Mambos did hit the post late on but it finished a deserved 2-0 win for Hatton.

Harbour Lights had Phd Pensioners as visitors and the home side had two great chances in the first five minutes but were denied by the Pensioners evergreen keeper Grant.

The away side took the lead when they were awarded a free kick on the right which Summers curled in and Watson was on the end of it to fire home.

They doubled their lead when Duthie’s shot was saved but it rebounded to Gourley who scored in off the post. Early in the second half the home side were gifted an own goal by Gallagher.

The Pensioners took control of the game after this and went on to score three more goals through Watson, Wood and Geddes.

Ardallie had their first home game of the season and it ended with a narrow 4-3 win over Cruden Bay.

Ardallie were nearly made to pay with all their poor finishing but held on to make it two wins out of two. The home scorers were braces from Ally Wemyss and Stuart Park.
