On-form Dane Ballard netted four times to help bring home three points to Raemoss Park on Saturday.
Buchanhaven Hearts’ trip to Newmachar revealed blustery conditions and a heavy pitch.
Looking for a reaction after last week’s disappointment they didn’t start well and were a goal down after just six minutes.
A ball bounced in front of Keith and Copeland pounced to shoot past Gatt. But Hearts hit back and equalised when Gary Davidson was brought down by Meldrum. Dane Ballard shot past Chapman to level.
Hearts again fell behind when Keith and Park collided and Newmacahar played on with Paterson netting.
The visitors missed a great chance to equalise when Chapman saved from Gary Davidson.
Newmcahar went further in front when Hearts failed to clear a corner leaving Kennedy to pounce. It got worse for the visitors when they made a mess of defending and Gibson put the home side 4-1.
Going into the second half Hearts had it all to do to turn the game around and they managed to do just that.
Ballard got in behind the defence, pulled the ball back for Alex Davidson to score. But again they failed to defend properly themselves and another poor clearance fell for Kennedy to notch his second. The fightback began in earnest - Ballard headed home a cross from park to make it 5-3, and then a great move from Davidson to Brown saw his cross side-footed home by hat-trick hero Ballard.
It was then all-square when a long free kick was headed home by Ballard at the far post.
The icing was finally applied to the cake when Ligertwood raced down the left and cut back for Ross Walker who rifled the ball home to make it 6-5 for Hearts.
Next game is at home to Glentanar on Sunday at 2pm.
