PETERHEAD boss Neale Cooper has confirmed the departure of Stuart Anderson after a second spell at Balmoor.

The former Southampton midfielder is expected to return south of the border after a second spell at Balmoor which saw him net two goals in 15 starts and one substitute appearance.

The midfield area is well covered with Neil McVitie and Paul Emslie having been regular starters this season, and the improved form of Ryan Strachan.

Following the 6-1 Aberdeenshire League win over Formartine United, Cooper said “Stuart came to me a couple of weeks ago to say he’d been offered a job in Southampton and asked if he could leave the club.

“I said at the time that we didn’t have the numbers to allow that, but a number of players returning we are now in position to allow him to leave.”

Anderson had previously been at Balmoor between 2007-2009, before spending a year in the Blue Square Premier with Salisbury City.
