The third Young Driver Roadshow of 2012 has been hailed as a success with over 35 Young Drivers, family members and friends in attendance.
It was the third in a series of events being held throughout the Grampian region and officers are hopeful that the remainder will be a similar success..
Pc Raymond Neil of Road Safety Grampian said: “This is the second consecutive year that we have hosted a Young Driver Road Show in Huntly and I was absolutely delighted with the numbers attending, particularly those who came back even though they had been there last year.
“It certainly shows the support that Road Safety Grampian have in their quest to reduce the number of those young persons being killed or seriously injured on our roads.
“Recent tragic events just highlight how important it is for Grampian Police to continue to deliver the road safety message but ultimately, it is the decision for each individual to act upon the information given.”
During the event, drivers were given the opportunity to use the seatbelt convincer, brake reaction timer, impairment goggles, have a demonstration drive and have their vehicles checked over by members of Grampian Police Roads Policing Department.
They were also able to speak informally with members from Grampian Police, Grampian Fire and Rescue Service, the Scottish Ambulance Service, NESCAMP, Michele Binnie from Alcohol Support Ltd, Local Driving Instructors and members from the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
Pc Neil added: “I would also like to thank the following local businesses for supporting our event and donating the following gifts for the free prize draw which I am sure proved an attraction for those to attend:-
