Young carers in the North-east will be featured on a new Channel 4 programme set to air tonight.
In Britain’s Youngest Carers, JLS star Oritsé Williams visits a number of carers as his band tours across the UK.
Oritsé has cared for his mum since he was younger and in the programme, he explores how young people manage to care for relatives and balance the responsibility with other childhood pressures.
In tonight’s episode to be screened at 11pm, JLS stop at Aberdeen.
Andy Brown of Aberdeenshire Young Carers Service said: “We got a phone call in December last year about the programme and asked us if we could help out.
“The carers were treated to a meet and greet at the band’s gig and when Oritsé walked in you could have heard a pin drop.
“It was an amazing experience for everyone, he was very passionate about the young carers and shared his own experiences.
Andy added: “He knows he was in a wrong place and he promised to do his upmost to champion young carers at all cost.”
Speaking about Aberdeenshire Young Carers Service’s involvement, Andy said: “The programme will highlight the work we do and I look forward to seeing it, we are privilaged to have been part of it.”
