Staff at a Peterhead bookmakers shop are to organise a fundraiser aimed at helping a disabled child achieve her lifetime wish of swimming with dolphins.
Rosie Keith a member of staff at William Hills in Chapel Street in the town, told the Buchanie: “We will be organising a sponsored walk to raise money for a little girl called Emma Bamber who has spina bifida and wants to go to Florida to swim with dolphins.
“The idea is to organise a number of events, including a walk from our William Hill shop in the town, ending up in Mintlaw where we plan to hold a tea and coffee afternoon.
“We hope to have enough volunteers to raise enough cash to pay for the trip,” she said.
Rosie and her manager, Angela Ward, are hopeful that customers using the shop will either join them on the walk or sponsor one of the volunteers.
One customer has already made tablet which will be sold and help to send Emma across the Atlantic.
Another has promised his next winning bet will be donated to the fund.
‘’Our users are so generous, we expect to do well,’’ said Angela who was one of the team who won the company’s Scottish shop of the year in Brighton earlier in the year.
For further details of the sponsored walk to Mintlaw in August - or to sponsor the pair, join them on the walk or donate the cause, you can contact either Angela or Rosie in the Chapel Street premises of William Hill in Peterhead.
