AN 18-year-old Peterhead woman is recovering after being rescued from a house fire last Wednesday in the town’s Halliday Place.

The blaze broke out at around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon in the first floor bedroom of the two-storey house.

The initial call to the fire service was made at 4.09pm with three appliances attending the scene - one from Maud and two from Peterhead - with the last fire engine remaining on scene until 5.30pm.

An ambulance attended the scene to treat the injured female who is understood to have been rescued by a neighbour.

She was suffering from smoke inhalation and burns to her leg. A dog was also rescued.
