Police Scotland confirmed last week that a male who died following a road traffic collision on the B9170 near Cuminestown on Christmas Eve was Fraser Gibbon (20), of West Cairncake, Cuminestown.
In a statement, Fraser’s family said: “Fraser was ripped from our lives and has left a massive hole that can never be filled.
“Fraser was described by all who knew him as a gentle giant, very much a family person who would do anything for anyone”.
They added that he was a “proud father, a doting uncle to two nieces and brother to three sisters who all loved him dearly”.
“He was the precious and deeply loved only son of Anne and Donald, and has been taken from us far too soon.
“We would also like to offer sincere thanks to all who assisted at the scene”.
Sergeant Jon Barron, the senior investigating officer, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts at this particularly traumatic time are with Fraser’s family and friends.”
“Detailed enquiries are underway in order to establish the full circumstances. I would like to take this opportunity to urge any potential witnesses to come forward and speak to us.”
In particular, the enquiry team are interested in speaking to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have been driving in the immediate area around the time. Witnesses should contact Police Scotland on 101.
