A young Peterhead Highland dancer has picked up a top accolade.

Caitlin Shepherd (10), danced her way to the top prize at the Highland Dancing Championship held in Paisley recently.

Caitlin won the ten years Pre-Championship section at the BATD City of Glasgow Championship , which was held on June 8.

She won her section with two firsts, one second and a fourth across the four Highland dances.

It was a very successful and emotional day for Caitlin who is a pupil at the Slessor School of Dance in Peterhead.

Caitlin began dancing at a very young age, joining the school when she was just two-and-a-half years old.

Commenting on her pupil’s recent success dance teacher, Jacqueline Slessor, told the Buchan Observer she was very proud of Caitlin’s great achievement.

“Winning your pre-championship is what every highland dancer aspires to accomplish,” said Jacqueline.

“I wish Caitlin every success for future championships.”

The Slessor School of Dance is located at Ugie Road in Peterhead and offers studnts classes in Highland, Freestyle Disco and Nursery.
