Peterhead folk are being invited to take a step back in time when they visit the former HM Convict Prison, Peterhead later this year.
The original prison opened in 1888 and now forms part of The Admiralty Gateway.
The Prison Museum will open to the public on Tuesday, June 7 at 10am, however members of the local publicarebeing given the chance to visit the museum and take the tour free of charge prior to this date.
For exclusive tales of those courageous personnel who staffed the first convict prison in Scotland from August 1888 to December 2013 what better way to learn than to enter the cells,.
There, visitors can interact with staff and be a patient in the hospital while visiting other key components of this historic complex that is recognised worldwide.
The tours will take place on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 May and as part of this pre-opening tours it is requested that feedback is provided after the tour to allow the operators to consider improvements prior to officially opening.
Spaces are limited for this opportunity therefore selection will be made on a ‘first come first serve’ basis.

Once open, visitors to the museum can view a range of prison memorabilia and historical photographs and visit the cell and punishment block areas.
There will also be a re-creation of the convict working areas.
