Sponsored head shave raises £1,000 to-date in aid of charity

A North-east woman is to undergo a sponsored head shave to raise funds for charity.

Ruth Drummond from Peterhead has already collected £1,000 for her chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation, in memory of her mum, Cathy.

The event is to be held at Ruth’s workplace, The Palace Hotel, Peterhead, on July 28.

Ruth’s son has already shaved his head and Ruth’s partner is to shave his head for charity as well. A number of Ruth’s colleagues at The Palace Hotel will also be joining in by having chest waxes.

Commenting on her charity work, mother-of-two Ruth said: “My mum Cathy had heart disease and passed away a couple of years ago. The British Heart Foundation gave me a lot of support and I wanted to give something back.

“I’ve got long hair at the moment so it’s a bit daunting but I’m excited about it too. Prior to the head shave I am going to go round some of the local pubs and encourage people to dig deep for charity. Afterwards, people will be able to buy clippings of my hair to raise more money for charity.

“I hoped we would raise £1200 but I think we’ll beat that target.

“I would like to thank the people of Peterhead who have donated so generously so far. In particular, I would like to thank Stacey, Viktors and my boss Kenny for their support”, she added.
